Foul TV

Why do they have to make all the movies nowadays with so much cursing, sex, and other offensive stuff in them?  We rented Land of the Lost and after 10 minutes had to turn it off.  Lots of cussing.  Not very appropriate for kids if you ask me.

Our TV Guardian didn't catch any of it so I'm guessing that copy was not closed captioned. If you don't know what a TV Guardian is, well, it is a small device that you hook into your tv, DVD and VCR.  It will silence a cuss word and instantly replace it in a closed caption sentence at the bottom of the screen.  For example Dick Clark was mentioned, and it instantly silences the audio of the movie for that line, and replaces it with a written line at the bottom of the tv screen, saying, "Jerk Clark"   Horny Toad becomes Excited Toad, Sex becomes hugs,  etc....   This only works if the movie had closed captioning.  Of course, sometimes a cuss word will slip through (technology, nothing is perfect)  I used to cuss a lot myself, but after all these years of being delivered from that, I find it offensive when I hear it. 

Geez...can't people watch a movie and not have a steamy sex scene pop up out of nowhere?  There is always partial nudity in almost every movie, suggestive sexual scenes, or Christian or Conservative, or Republican bashing...

Our world is truly starting to think that the good is evil and evil is good.  Just as it was said in the Bible.

And what is the deal with trying to make anyone who smokes cigarettes a criminal?  Tobacco is not an illegal drug.  I don't smoke anymore, but I feel for those who do.  They are forced out of buildings to stand in the cold or rain or snow to smoke.  They are being banned from smoking in restaurants, outside of hospitals, college campuses, etc.  Even some jails are banning smoking.  Taxes are added to them constantly.

Why doesn't everyone just go after all the alcohol manufacturers and users?  They are the ones who cause tons more grief to people than tobacco.  Alcohol can lead to DWI arrests, fatal crashes, teens getting pregnant because they are so drunk they are taken advantage of, people doing things they wouldn't normally do, family violence, abuse, date rape drugs put into drinks at clubs, fighting, dare-devil stunts with tragic results, etc....  Ask a cop how many times a tobacco user has been arrested because of what tobacco is making him do.  Tobacco is not a mind-altering drug.  Alcohol has destroyed untold numbers of people and lives.  But our country condones it.  When people are after homeschoolers, Christians, Conservatives, Republicans, people who eat meat or use animals for fur, but ignore the real evil of alcohol then something is wrong.
